NOTE: As of March 2009, Palm ended production of all their PDA's and
purchase is limited to the dwindling availability of stock on hand. It
signals the end of the PDA era as phone and iPod technology have
overtaken the handheld market. Palm is to be acquired by HP. PDA REPAIRS For a replacement Digitizer (touch-screen), LCD colour screens, new batteries and general repairs to all PDA's try this California based company: There is no connection between this website and Axmicro. The link is offered purely as a suggestion. I used them and was very happy with the results. Q: Will Bundesliga work on Pocket PC's (hand held computers) or Mobile phones? A: Normally no although there are downloadable programmes on the Internet (around £20) that emulate the Palm OS on Windows handhelds. How well things function with a crossover is unknown but typically the version will only run at around 70% of the normal speed. The ability to correctly sync may also be affected. Bundesliga v4.2 and the Divisional PDA databases were ONLY designed to work on the Palm Operating System (Palm OS, now called Garnet OS). Pocket PC's, such as the Compaq iPAQ, Dell, or Toshiba devices that function on Windows, were typically NOT COMPATIBLE with programmes intended for the Palm OS without using an emulator. Companies and trademarks associated with the Palm OS that were compatible included Access, Aceeca, Acer, Alphasmart, Centro, Clié, Epocrates, Fossil, Franklin Covey, Garmin, GSPDA, Handspring (taken over by Palm), IBM, Kyocera, LG Electronics, Lenova, Legend, Life Drive, Motorola, Palm, Palm One, Palmsource, PiTech, Samsung, Sony, Supra, Symbol, Treo, Tungsten, TRG, and Zire. Q: Can I view PDA images on a desktop or laptop computer? A: Basically no. Bundesliga v4.2 and the database files are designed to work on Palm handheld devices. They are not meant for computer display. If you are proficient in programming, and know what you are doing, you can download the Garnet (formerly Palm) OS Emulator from GarnetOS by Access Development. The emulator is a programming tool for designers to create Palm programmes on their computers. It is not recommended for the untrained beginner. The software of choice for serious Palm/Garnet OS design and programming is CodeWarrior. This will also permit you to view Palm programmes on a computer but, depending on the version, for the cost of the software you might just as well get yourself a full feature PDA. Q: Why are the dates for matches are not always correct? A: The League fixtures are divided into the number of weeks, or match days, for each particular Division. Premier teams play 38 games and Coca Cola teams play 46. The database(s) will generally indicate the main or original date for which the fixtures were intended. Due to TV re-scheduling or a preference to play on an alternate night, such as a Tuesday or Wednesday in mid-week or a Friday night instead of Saturday, the match day will still be displayed as the date for which most games are scheduled. But... Where a match appears out of alphabetical order, it is a good indication the match has been switched to an alternate date or time. Q: Where do I find dates for matches on the PDA screen? A: You can find dates in two places. One is on the main 'Bundesliga' page showing the days fixtures. Tap on the upper right of the screen where it gives the 'Match Day' number. The date of that round of matches will be revealed. The other place is in 'Fixtures'. Tap on a particular club and it will take you to a screen showing that clubs statistics. Along the bottom of the screen will appear 'OK' and 'Fixture'. Tapping 'Fixture' takes you to the match dates and times for the club. ' OK' returns you to the previous page. Q: How do I enter results myself? A: Easy. Enter the scores by tapping on the right two columns of dotted lines against a fixture and use your stylus in the numeric area of the screen to write the score (Graffiti mode). When both scores are entered the programme will have instantly updated the Tables, Stats while the results will appear on the individual team's individual W-D-L Statistics & Fixture lists. Q: Where can I check for scores that I can enter myself? A: Many news sites such as BBC Sports, Sporting-Life, Sky Sports, etc. provide this information. Q: Where can I find out more about Palm/Garnet developments? A: A good source is http://www.access-company.com/developers/. Note that Palm has licencing arrangements with many companies. The current operating system is now called Garnet OS by Access. Q: Are there more programmes available for PDA's? A: Absolutely! Palmgear is one of many good sites that have free or inexpensive programmes that can be downloaded and installed. ============== End =============== Revised: May 9, 2010
